GeoStamp Camera

Privacy Policy · ThinkTron Ltd.

Last updated: 2026-05-25

ThinkTron Ltd. ("we", "us") develops and provides the "GeoStamp Camera" mobile application ("the App"). This policy explains how the App handles your information.

Summary

  • The App has no account and requires no sign-in.
  • The App contains no ads, no usage analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party tracking SDKs.
  • The photos, videos, location and time data you capture/process are stored on your device by default and are NOT uploaded to our servers (we operate no server that receives them).
  • The only time data leaves your device: when you enable "Show Map" and your device is online, the App sends the photo's GPS coordinates to Google's Static Maps service to retrieve a map thumbnail (see "Third-party services").

1. Data we access and why

The App is a camera tool that stamps location and time watermarks onto photos/videos. With your permission it accesses:

DataPurpose
CameraTake photos and record video.
MicrophoneRecord audio while recording video (audio stays inside the video file, on device).
Location (precise/approximate, altitude, accuracy)Render the location watermark, reverse-geocode an address, and write location into the photo's EXIF metadata.
Photos & media (read)Let you pick existing photos to apply a watermark.
Storage / gallery (write)Save processed photos/videos back to your device gallery.

The App also reads device sensors (level indicator) and basic device info (camera capability checks); these are used on-device only and are not transmitted.

2. How data is processed and stored

  • Watermark compositing and EXIF writing happen entirely on your device.
  • Processed media is saved to your device gallery; the App also keeps a local library index in its own storage (capture time, coordinates, address) for the in-app gallery.
  • We do not collect, upload, or retain your photos, videos, or location on any server.

3. Important: watermarks and EXIF carry location/time

The App's core function embeds location (coordinates, address) and time into the photo, including its EXIF metadata. Therefore, when you choose to share or send these photos, that location and time travel with the file. Consider this before sharing photos of sensitive locations. You can disable showing/writing coordinates, address, or time in the App's settings.

4. Third-party services

  • Google Maps Static API: only when you enable "Show Map" and are online, the App sends the photo's GPS coordinates (coarsened to ~100 m for caching) plus an API key to Google to obtain a map thumbnail. This feature can be turned off in settings. Google's handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Operating-system geocoding service: to convert coordinates into a text address, the App calls the device's built-in OS geocoder; depending on your device and OS, this may be processed on-device or by the OS vendor (e.g., Google Play services) on their servers. The App itself does not send your coordinates to our servers.

The App does not share your data with any other third parties.

5. Retention and deletion

Your media and metadata live on your device and are fully under your control: delete photos/videos via your gallery, and uninstalling the App removes its local library index.

6. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

7. Security

Because data mainly stays on your device, its security depends on your device protections. Map requests over the network use HTTPS.

8. Your choices

Revoke camera/location/microphone/gallery permissions anytime in system settings (some features will stop working). Disable "Show Map", coordinates/address/time display, and EXIF writing in the App settings.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes update the "Last updated" date on this page.
